Patient Policies

Appointment Policies

No walk-ins allowed. Do not penalize for cancellations.

“Late” Policy

If you are more than 15 minutes late for an appointment, then you may be asked to reschedule. We will try to accommodate as best we can; however, sometimes it may not be possible and you will need to reschedule.

Financial Policies

The office of Dr. Mark Akers is committed to providing you with the best possible care. Please understand that payment of your bill is considered part of your obligation as a patient. The following information is provided to avoid misunderstanding concerning payment for services provided by our team.

While filing insurance claims is a courtesy that we extend to our patients, all charges are ultimately your responsibility. We must emphasize that as Medical Care Providers, our relationship is with you, and not your insurance company. It is the patient’s responsibility to know their network, policy coverage, and benefit information. We will file your Primary and Secondary insurance claims for you. There are a multitude of insurance companies out there, and we accept most- but not all. Please ask us and we can let you know if we are in-network with yours.

If your insurance policy requires a predetermined co-pay, then you are required to make that payment at the time of your visit. You may be asked to reschedule your appointment if you are not able to pay for your co-payment at the time of service.

Billing information

We accept cash, personal checks, Visa, MasterCard, and Discover.

You will be required to show your valid Medicaid card at the time of your visit so that we may copy it for billing purposes.

Self-Pay Patients

If you are not covered by a health insurance policy, then you will be required to pay for the visit at the time of service.
